Hello fellow foodies! Welcome to Kristen a la Carte!

My name is Kristen and I’ve lived on Long Island all my life.  Being from an Italian family, everything always revolved around food. When I was younger, I looked forward to time in the kitchen with my mom, grandma, and great-aunt Anna, and then during my freshman year of college I discovered the Food Network and well, the rest is history…I am now out of college, and my tv is still always tuned into The Food Network and The Cooking Channel for my favorite shows.

I love searching for recipes, baking and cooking for my family and friends, and trying new restaurants.  Anything having to do with food has become my passion, and lucky for me I live in the shadows of one of the greatest food cities.

Some additional ‘crumbs’ about myself are…I am an elementary school teacher, I love music (it’s often blasting in the kitchen when I’m cooking), I love to travel, photography, curling up with a good book, dancing, watching movies, trips to the farmers market, the beach!, I’m a NY Giants, Islanders and Mets fan (don’t judge) and my favorite food is pizza.

You will quickly find out that I am extremely close to my family and they always keep me laughing…Don’t worry, I am sure you will get to know them, along with my tight group of friends, as you continue to follow this here blog because I often recruit them for my foodie pursuits. Whether it’s to try a new restaurant or to sample a new recipe, they are always game!
